Hello.

Is it possible to put Mac OS (X) on an external 32 GB USB3 flash drive
to boot and use? Basically for basic usage and testing purposes. If so,
then how like with the brand new Sierra v10.12?

Thank you in advance. :)

Strange. On both my old 32 GB USB flash sticks, they worked until
booting up and installing until stopped. And then, my flash drives
aren't usable anymore. SP brand (years old) can't be formatted fully on
any computer I have here in Windows (XP Pro SP3 and 10 EE), Linux
(Debian Jessie stable), and Mac OS X (v10.8.5/Mountain Lion &
v10.12/Sierra). Patriot (newer) brand flash drive won't even let me see
its drive even though OSes detect a connection. Did the new MBP or
Sierra/OS X v10.12 hose them? :(

Geez, this sounds familiar. I got a 32GB Emtec and put the ISO for
Lubuntu 14.04 on it. I booted from it and installed Lubuntu on two PCs.
Then I put a different bootable ISO on the USB drive. Will not boot.
Used 3 different programs on Linux and one or two on the Mac. No go.
Files are there, leaves a flashing cursor on screen. So I figure I
must've got a bad source file. Get an entirely different bootable ISO,
used all the programs again. Flashing cursor.

I still haven't figured out what's up with that.

DOes your flash stick still work though?

Filenames were there, but I checked no further. I've misplaced the thing
now and just picked up a couple new ones that I'll try to make bootable.
Wish me luck!

My plan is to carry around an Ubuntu All-In-One stick and hold it up in
front of Windows users and say, "The answer to all your problems is
right in here!" :D

El Capitan (10.11) installs on a 16GB USB flash drive, so Sierra should
fit on a 32GB.

It'll fit on a 8GB USB flash drive too.

I've made them for use as a bootable Utilities repair drive... and it's
good for that - but speedwise, it runs slower than I remember Q-Link
running back on my Commodore Amiga 500.
